In many ways, caring for long hair can sometimes be harder and take longer than caring for short hair. For a start, tangles can be a problem with long hair, especially if it is worn down and this can take some time.

Conditioning the hair and making sure that you comb it through when it is still wet with a wide toothed comb is the best way to get through those tangles and you should try and use a wide tooth comb when the hair is dry as well as the bristles of a brush can damage the hair, especially with repeated brushing throughout the day.

When it comes to looking after the hair in the best way that you can, you should make sure that you do not over-dye your hair or color it too often and also not wash it every day as this can strip the hair of the vital oils that it needs to remain healthy. Also, regular trims are good for removing the dead hair which c and drain the rest of your hair, leaving it limp and not looking its best.

Washing long hair can sometimes be a bit of a problem as the added length and weight can make it difficult to get all of the dirt and grime out. However, many people try to get around this by shampooing twice which actually does more harm than good as it strips the hair of the oils that it needs to be healthy.

When you are washing your long hair, make sure that you brush through it first with a wide toothed comb to get rid of the nasty tangles and knots which can be painful and take forever to remove when wet. You should aim to comb your hair everyday in a manner that is like this but washing your hair every day is not recommended as again, this will strip the oils.

One of the best things that you can do when washing long hair is to only lather the soap at the roots and not touch the ends. The shampoo will be washed through the ends when you rinse out anyway and this can help to prevent the ends from becoming rather dried out. The same applies to conditioner but in reverse; do not put so much conditioner at the roots which can cause the hair to become greasier but instead put quite a bit on the ends to rehydrate them.
