Straightening longer length hair does take quite a bit of time, longer than what it would take with short hair anyway, and it must be remembered that any heated hair styling tools should be used irregularly to prevent the hair from drying out. When using heated tools, make sure that you use plenty of conditioner and also the right heated styling products that are out on the market.

The first thing that you will need to do when you are planning to straighten long hair is to make sure that it is already dry. Trying to do this on short hair will result in a rather nasty hissing noise, a sure sign that you are ruining your hair. You should towel dry your hair and then use a hair dryer or leave to dry naturally and then turn your straighteners on to proceed.

For long hair, it is a better idea to split the hair into two sections; top and bottom. This means that you are making sure that all of the hair is straight and that there are no kinks to ruin the look. Once this is done, work through the hair, strip by strip making sure that the hair is neither in too thick chunks or too thin ones and then pull the straightening irons through from the top to the bottom. A smoothing serum will make this look sleeker and also glossier and will get you the Lady Gaga look in no time at all.
